In case you were wondering and maybe aren’t familiar with Connecticut winters, in late winter somewhere around Valentine’s Day, when the sap begins to run and we make Maple Syrup, it usually means ice skating ponds are no longer frozen enough to be on. We can have temps in the 60’s one day and an Ice Storm the next as you just found out this week! This means, ice skating on the park pond is officially closed for the season. See you next year!
In the meantime, you can still hike, walk, birdwatch, look for signs of spring in nature and of course plan to visit the sugar shack when the steam and smoke are puffing out of the two chimney stacks!
Annual Maple Sugaring Open House day is Saturday, March 19 from 10-2 at the park. Maybe we’ll see you then?
